Now that 3D printing has been becoming more popular I was wondering if there has been any news on people building 3D models for print that can be used with HQ? It would be nice to do away with the old cardboard furniture for new plastic furniture.
for HQ no but i have seen 3d printed dreads, rhinos& they did look odd as some of the proportions & i know WF & some others used 3d prints for there prototypes but as your asking if anyone is using one to make there own models then no i think it a question of cost pre unit , right just had a quick look & the costs run something like this,
3D printer $2500 (this is just an RRP from a report but it can go from $1800 - $6000)
computer & software $1500 (you need a high spec computer just for the software & the software isnt cheap)
raw material $70 per Kg (RRP for the plastic powder)
software engineer $?????? (computers are dumb especially when you have to tell it what a millimeter is! so an engineer may ask $3000 a week & then drag his/her ass)
