15mm scale measurement query

This is more of game rules for small minis related query rather than on modelling and painting (feel free to move this post if there's a better place).
This may seem like an obvious question, but my maths and is failing me here. Is there a standard unit of measurement when playing with 15mm figures in skirmish games? Most fantasy FRP games nowadays seemed to be based on 25/28mm scale where 1inch=5ft. The mixture of imperial and decimal isn't helping me much. Basically I if was creating a microdungeon tile for 15mm figures, do I make up the width of the squares, or is there a standard used in tabletop warfare? I'm refusing to look at the old D&D books on this because if I remember right the width-length of corridors on paper maps was disproportionate to the height of the figures. |
